The story of Mountain Man Services Started in the Mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico. Since 2020 at the beginning helping local Ruidoso residents with moving, junk removal and dumpster rental. Then the South Fork Fire was a wildfire in New Mexico. Ruidoso shut down during the fires, that burned 17,569 acres (7,110 ha) before being declared 99% contained as of July 15, 2024. The fire began on June 17 near the town of Ruidoso and grew very rapidly, surpassing 15,000 acres burned by the following day and destroying at least 1400 houses and structures. Most businesses in the local Ruidoso area saw an 80 percent decrease in their business. with the race track shutting down permanently, it has turned Ruidoso into a ghost town. Historic flash flooding in Ruidoso, New Mexico, on July 8, 2025, caused catastrophic damage, impacting 200 to 400 homes, causing three fatalities, and forcing about 65 swift-water rescues. Triggered by heavy monsoonal rain on burn scars, the Rio Ruidoso surged to a record 20 feet. The disaster prompted extensive road closures, including Hwy 70, and resulted in significant destruction to local infrastructure.
Key Damages and Impacts (July 2025):
- Fatalities: Three people, including two children (ages 4 and 7) and a 40-50 year old male, were killed after being swept away.
- Property Damage: At least 200 to 400 homes were damaged or destroyed.
- Infrastructure & Rescue: Approximately 65 swift-water rescues were conducted. Major,, roads such as Gavilan Canyon Road and sections of Hwy 70 were closed due to the deluge.
- Causes: The flood was intensified by the burn scars from the 2024 South Fork and Salt fires.
- Long-Term Impact: Due to repeated flooding over two years, the Ruidoso Downs Race Track & Casino announced it would not reopen for the 2026 season.

Mountain Man started in Upper Canyon Ruidoso where a customer decided to let us put a sign out in front of her house she is now passed away but that one sign was able to get mountain Man Services busy in Ruidoso and from there the company Grew From upper Canyon to Alto New Mexico to Ruidoso to Ruidoso Downs and from there the small company became a number one Ruidoso moving company then shifted and added the service of junk removal then we had a contractor contact us and say that they wanted our dumpsters or they would exclusively use us as their dumpster company if we got them and service them so we went out and got a dumpster package started off with one dumpster and built up to two three and then got into from the 14 yarders we got into 5 20 yard roll Off Dumpsters and from there we got into the bigger 30 yard and 40 yard dumpsters where we were able to service bigger contracts and bigger jobs for our contractors as we grew it's been a wild ride but it's been fun from the mountains to the Flatlands.
